| "In Minnesota, we have the annual Walleye fishing opener the middle of May. There are 10 of us who take our boats and camp on a beautiful spot in Northern Mn. We've been doing this trip with the same guys for 40 yrs! The fishing is usually good and in 2025 I took a shot very similar to this, one night while enjoying ourselves around the fire. I thought this would be a fairly easy painting to do until I got to the fire. Painting the flames of a fire turned out to be very challenging. I probably redid the flames 10 times using reference from our home fireplace, among other reference I had. My hope was to capture the magic of a campfire and the light it casts. |
