| "I was in Venice in 1971, on a trip with my brother and a friend. We were there in the winter and it was so cold, the canals were frozen! I owe all credits of this painting to my son Matt. He was in Venice in September and took this shot. I was so taken by the photo, I felt it needed to be painted. I moved a few things around for compositional balance, but the painting is dedicated to my son. Its the first painting of this kind that I have done, and if its a hit, I may have to revisit that city for more ideas. |
