| "I have always been a big fan of Frank Tenney Johnson paintings, especially his nocturns. I decided to give it a shot with this painting. This was one of the most challenging paintings I have done. Pulling off a night scene with moonlight is not easy, you have to bring in enough light to make it readable. Also, all the colors are muted to a greenish hue. I glazed and glazed to get the color I needed. Adding as much 'real color as I could get away with. I hope when the viewer sees the piece, they immediately recognize it as a night scene." |
