I rarely paint horses, this painting developed from the landscape shot years ago. It was mid September and I loved the light of the landscape. I am not a horse expert but think this is quarter horse. Painting the horse and getting the musculature correct was challenging, but I think I got it right. Then I had to orchestrate the background colors to give the painting unity. This painting will be actioned at the C.M Russell Museum, Great Falls,MT March 2024.
