This painting was inspired by an evening in Yellowstone Park. The elk weren't there, but the setting seemed like they should have been. The herd bull always has an attitude this time of year, that's why I never get too close when photographing them. But as all wildlife artists and photographers know, getting close and photographing the animals is where all the fun and excitement is.
