Bruce Miller's Oil Painting Workshop
"Highwood River"/ Oil on canvas /24x36/ I will be demonstrating this painting.
Welcome to my 2015 fall painting workshop.
This year we will do one (20x30) larger painting. I will provide landscape reference to use, I will also be encouraging artists to shoot their own reference this year. But if you can't bring something "paint-worthy", you use can use my shots. This will be an exercise in painting values and color shifts in a mountain landscape. This painting will give you an understanding of creating depth that you can apply to any landscape. We will begin the painting on Saturday, and finish on Sunday.
The class is a great opportunity for you to get motivated to paint more, and improve your painting skills. We cover a wide variety of information during the weekend. My goal is to have students create paintings of which they can be proud. From beginners to advanced artists, everyone will learn painting techniques that I have taken a lifetime to learn.
You will learn the basics and can use this information to create your own paintings after the class. My approach will simplifiy the painting process to an easy-to-understand exercise.
You will learn the classic approach to painting.
You will learn stretching and toning a canvas, transfer from a smaller image to large canvas using a grid system. Varnishing the finished painting.
You will be given complete instructions on brushes, paint, and canvas to buy for the class.
When the class is over, you will have excellent materials to create your own 'masterpieces'!
The workshop will fill on a first come ($200 deposit) basis. There will be a maximum of 8 students in the class.
And remember: Painting is a passion you can do for the rest of your life.
